Liberal Democrat Campaigners, Kamrun Shahjahan, Hafizur Rahman Choudhury and Altaf Hussein spent this weekend campaigning in Mile End East, listening to local residents. The biggest concern of local people is the lack of youth facilities in the area.

The Liberal Democrat campaigners spent time speaking with young people and their parents about the facilities they need in the area. Parents spoke of their concern that children would have to cross the busy Burdett Road to access Mile End Park, and their wish for sports facilities closer to home. Speaking in the ward, Liberal Democrat Hafizur Rahman Choudhury said: "The area to the north of Mile End East really needs a new youth facility. Residents of Wilcox House, Grindley House and the surrounding streets tell us that their children have no-where to go that is safe and close."

Kamrun Shahjahan added "So many children are not getting enough exercise, and with many homes being overcrowded, it is really important that we have more sports facilities where our young people can go to play".
